The Tour de Legacy was established in 2013 by a group of passionate and determined Adelaide cyclists, in conjunction with the Legacy Club of Adelaide.
Since its launch, the group has gone on to complete three incredibly successful tour’s; the first two across Australia; from Melbourne to Adelaide in 2013 and Canberra to Adelaide in 2015. Following their huge achievements and fundraising efforts within Australia, they decided to take the Tour de Legacy to a whole new level in 2018, to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Armistice and year of the ANZAC centenary.
They travelled across Europe and remarkably rode over 900km from London to Amiens, through the Western Front Battlefields of France and Belgium, concluding the trip at the Centenary Memorial Service at Villers-Bretonneux on Remembrance Day, November 11, 2018.
Inspired by the 1st ANZAC Cyclist Battalion, the next Tour de Legacy will be heading across the Tasman to New Zealand.
The Tour de Legacy cyclists will ride 936km across New Zealand’s North Island, commencing in Auckland and concluding in the capital of Wellington. Here they will attend the dawn service on ANZAC Day and will be formally welcomed by the Prime Minister of New Zealand.
